Lark Kravinoff knows what it takes to be a skilled huntress and a feared warrior. She has worked hard, training for the human uprising against the vicious creatures of the night called Nokturns. She must choose to rebel with the human faction, or turn her back on them, leaving their fate in the hands of their predators and possibly sending humans into extinction. Things could not be going worse for Lark Kravinoff. After she and her friends failed to rid Maldara of their enemy, Kane Adaro, self-proclaimed King of the Vampires, they are left to scramble to find a way to defeat him. As Kane continues to crush Maldara under his tyrannical fist, Lark and Ash are determined to keep fighting. While the gang remains deep within their own struggles with Kane, the human rebellion is still unfettered. When an attempted attack on the Vampires fails, leaving the state of the surviving humans uncertain, Lark is left to wonder about the fate of her family.
Ash is stretching himself thin, not reaping or sleeping as often as he should. His thoughts are consumed with protecting Lark from herself and whatever is wreaking havoc in her mind. Between that, and the stress over his sister’s condition as she lies unconscious in the infirmary, it is difficult to focus his attention on destroying the enemy.
If that wasn’t enough, Lark continues to contend with the voice in her head that claims to be her true father. Most days, she can’t determine if he’s trying to help her or harm her. But as a plan begins to form over how to take down Kane, Lark’s worlds begin to collide.
